I had the same problem I have had many times in the past today.  How do I get Visual Studio 2008 (Shell) to connect to TFS 2010 for SSRS.  Should be easy and I do the same thing over and over and forget about it.  It seems most posts around the web just give some insight but no full solution how to get it working, so here are the steps required to get TFS2010 and VS2008 playing nice

Firstly you need to install Team Explorer 2008, this is the main component and only comes with Team Edition of visual studio, if your using anything else use the separate download below

Team Explorer 2008

Once this is complete you need to install a compatibility update to the Team Explorer

Visual Studio Team System 2008 Service Pack 1 Forward Compatibility Update for Team Foundation Server 2010 (Installer)

And finally apply SP1 to the install

Visual Studio 2008 SP1

It seems to work in this order and only in this order for me so now I have SSRS working nicely with TFS
